PUBLICATIONS/WORK/ACTIVITIES

I'm working in the area of waste recovery for a while, towards the circular economy. My main work is currently focused on the production of bioethanol from waste, which actually is the area which I love since I started work in this subject during my final work as chemical engineer student. #Waste 2 energy#Circurlar Economy #decarbonization. In this section you can find some of my works.

Treatment facilities or MBT plants, are waste management facilities designed to treat and process municipal solid waste (MSW) or mixed waste. MBT plants combine mechanical and biological processes to reduce the volume of waste landfilled and also reduce the environmental impact of waste.

In Portugal, as in many countries in Europe, Most of the undifferentiated urban solid waste is taken to biological mechanical treatment facilities, where there is, depending on the configuration of the facility, a sorting to separate packaging waste from organic waste, however some packaging waste, such as glass, breaks easily and ends up going...

The increasing of worldwide population has a strong impact not only in the consumption of the earth resources but also in the consequent increase in the production of waste and the increasingly demand for space for agricultural and livestock purposes. It is well known that the increasing of population associated to the country development requires...

Biodiesel produced by residual feedstock, such as waste cooking oil, is, indeed one of the strategies to reduce production costs, valorize wastes and contribute for a faster decarbonization in transportation sector, plus, it does not compete with food security. However, the high sulfur content in these residual feedstocks is becoming an enormous...
